Thoughts, feelings....and an explaination
~*Tuesday, 2 February 2010*~

**
Today at band

At band, we are supposed to do 'AAR'; a review of which comments and opinions are expressed to allow the event to be improved.

However, most of these 'suggestions' are nothing more than a means to shorten time so that we can go off earlier( it was close to 7pm).

I had given what i feel was a good suggestion, one that suggested that we ask other cca (especially those who got a lot of sec 1s) their strategy on how to attact people to join our cca so that we can analyse, edit and make the best out of them.

But my idea was dismissed, even scorned.

Why?

Is it because they misunderstood, and thought I was talking about 'stealing' the sec1s from other cca? If not what?

At school.

A good friend said that i was 'showing off'.

I could not, will not refute those claims. His thoughts are his own - I will not change them.

But is 'showing off' just allowing your work to be recognised? Is it just letting those around know of your acomplishments, the efforts you put to attain them?

If not what? That was the only thing I did.

If this is 'showing off', whats being humble? No wanting others to know of your talents, abilities, achievements? To forever remain in obscurity?

This is my explaination from my point of view. Go on and tell me if you think that I am wrong.

Just give me a very good explanation.

The fine, thin line
~*Monday, 7 December 2009*~

**
For some time, I've been hearing people saying that I'm too soft; that I should scold my juniors....

But I don't believe that that is the correct way to proceed.

There is a fine line separating the too soft, and the too strict. I know I'm in the former.

But the important thing is to strike the line perfectly, whereby one is neither too strict nor too soft....and I feel that scolding puts one into 'too strict' section. Once you scold someone, they remember it forever, that they will always have that certain wariness or fear of that person. To strike that balance, one must be able to command their respect, but yet they do not fear you, and share their weal and woe, to be slightly independent and most importantly, to be able to survive without you. Once people are in the 'too strict' section, their juniors will not be motivated to continue on themselves. That, I'm not willing to risk.

Furthermore, as what I've said earlier, seniors must be able to ensure that their juniors can survive without them (in the metaphorical sense). I've once read a book that taught me thus (something very close to it) and I agree with it.

One must not just be able to just coach their juniors, but to ensure then to survive without them, to survive even greater hardships without them and even to coach THEIR juniors to do the same and so forth.. Those who can do what I've said are truly perfect leaders/seniors.

I know I can't do it, not yet, maybe never.

But can you?

Masks.
~*Friday, 4 September 2009*~

**
Everyone wears 'masks'. Society and people in general prefer stability, especially in friends and other people. Thus they treat other people given the other person's first impression.

That's why first impression are so important. When we first meet someone, we remember how he or she reacts and whenever we see them again, we react to them in the same way as we first did to them and thus predict that they will do the same. And the other person obligingly reacts in the same way to how we react to them and thus this cycle continues.

Some say people never change and are always the same. I beg to differ. One person's thoughts are as diverse as the people there are. However, in front of other people, espically friends, they put on a mask. This mask make them always seem the same, siiince the first impression they made on other people and that's why other people like them (unless, of course, if one had made a bad impression, the mask he or she wears make them unpopular)

However, there is more then one form of this mask. When one has beeon embarrassed or hurt in some way and they do not want other people's concern, they put on a mask of 'indifference'. Over time, the 'wound' heals, and due to the person who seemed indifferent to what had happened or had laughed it off. Also, when a person goes up to the stage, sometimes he or she dons on a mask, so as to hide their stage fright and thus seems to be a confident person on stage, of who we have to appulaud, thanks to their courage. After all, courage is not a lack of fear, but an ability to overcome it.

Over time, when one wears a mask for too long, they themselves cannot differenciate themselves from the mask or that that the mask has become a part of them. But really, what is this mask but a part of oneself? I let you decide.

5. Concert

I went to see the philharmonic winds in concert where thay played'william byrd suite', 'concerto for saxophone and orchestra', 'music for prague 1968', 'la fiesta mexicana' and since he was happy, he also conducted 'carnival march: rooling thunder'
It was great( especially the part where the saxophone went so damn frigging high) except for the fact that a tuba made a mistake during the concerto. Zhe An noticed it too( he was there with a small group to do a project). If any1 want to read about it, i got the book. Just ask me. :D

~*Sunday, 19 October 2008*~

Sry i havent been blogging. Ive been very busy with

1)Playing the computer
2)eating
3)sleeping
4)watching tv
5)going to school
6)going out
7)going for band

Anyway, yesterday(SAT), we went to NJC open house. Over there, we had a very nice talk by their principal and then we walked around doing watever we wanted. Firstly, after exploring the science section, I faintly heard their band playing sumthing which sounded like danse diabolique. And they were later so kind as to lend me their 4-valve eupho. :D

Note: It defintely sounds better than the spoiled one i tried playing.

Than i found a guiter esemble(the school was very nice), a piano esmble and a harmonica esmble.

The piano esmble has 2 GRAND PIANOS leh. Very ex.

I think i left drool there........

*hint* I just figured out roxanne's bday is very soon......

For some reason, I have taken to writing fiction at http://www.fanfiction.net/ .

The sweet smell of of holiday is here!!!!
I would be cheering except for three things

2) Because I got to study for the next exam, I can't play the comp

3) My 3rd term exam results aren't good so there's pressure from my parents....

Ok....maybe not cheering is too much.
I can onli wait for end year holiday(but then the stress will be for next year's band SYF...)

DARN IT.
